Concerto for piano & orchestra

The idea for the concerto came into being after finishing a concerto for piccolo, piano and orchestra for Ilonka Kolthof and Ralph van Raat in March 2020, when the pandemic truly struck. Its subtile ‘Corona Concerto’ is a wink to Mozart’s Krönungskonzert K 536, which was the first piano concerto I became familiar with in my teenage years. The music however bears very little resemblance to Mozart’s, unless unintentionally. If there is anything Mozartian I aspire to, it would be ‘clarity of tone’ in the piano part.

While a live performance of the work is still pending, I put a provisional audio, made with NotePerformer3 from the Sibelius score, on my Music Page.
